The Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences performs and publishes leading edge research in both mathematics and statistics.

The Department is comprised of various Research Groups in applied mathematics, pure mathematics, and statistics. Many researchers in the Department are also members of leading research Institutes and Centres affiliated with the University of Alberta.
